GEM709 prepares the Federal Gift Tax Return. You can enter all of the relevant information with respect to each gift on a single screen.

GEM709 also includes an innovative method to enter split gifts and gifts of community property. When you initialize a marital file, you enter all gifts made by each spouse in the same file. You can toggle between their files by clicking on their respective tabs at the top of the screen. Their individual schedule tree summarizes all of the gifts they have made, including split gifts and gifts of community property. A change to one spouse's gifts is instantly reflected on the other spouse's tree and return.

GEM709 includes the following additional features:

• GEM709 supports the preparation of all schedules and pages which comprise Form 709, permitting you to enter information and format text with a powerful word processor.
• GEM709 permits you to print the return and all attachments in PDF format, making it easy to e-mail drafts and the final return to the donors and other interested parties.

• GEM709 prepares a Notice of GST Exemption Allocation for transfers not listed on Form 709.

• You can define your own word processing macros which speeds data entry and provides a more consistent appearance for your returns.

• GEM709 for the 2006 filing season will be able to import data from GEM709 for the 2005 filing season.
